The Aztec Labor team met with seasonal employers today to provide the latest news about H-2B visa developments. Highlights include:
- On January 5th, 2026, the U.S. Department of Labor published the “lottery” results for April 1 H2B visa applications. Results are available at https://www.dol.gov/agencies/eta/foreign-labor
- On December 31st, 2025, the government announced that they would release 35,000 “supplemental” H-2B visas, which are typically allocated to returning workers and workers from Central America. However, the date of release and the exact allocations are not yet known.
- Employers are likely going to face delays in receiving workers, due to new consulate requirements for in-person interviews
- Depending on the employer’s filing strategy and staffing needs, they may choose between their lottery assignment, supplemental visas, in-country worker transfers, or other strategies to meet their staffing needs
